Opening times.

Weekdays 10:00- 16:00 hrs. and 11:00-17:00. hrs. in the weekends.

Our restaurant is accessible without an entrance ticket. The restaurant is closed from    1stNovember -1stApril (we do serve coffee or tea during this period) Group bookings for lunch etc. are possible throughout the year.

The Keringhuis is closed on:

  • 25th December (Christmas day)
  • 31stDecember (New year’s Eve)
  • 1st January(New Year’s Day)

Accessibility

The accessibility is excellent in the Keringhuis. The exposition, filmroom and other facilities are all on ground floor level.We have our own free carpark with disabled parking right by the entrance (disability parking license required). We have two wheelchairs for general use and a ringline in the filmroom for the hearing impaired. We do not allow dogs in the Keringhuis, ofcourse with the exception of guide dogs.

Individual visitors

The exposition in the Keringhuis is suitable for all ages.At the reception yo can get extra information in various languages or we can provide earphones for an audiotour (works on your own smartphone)  

Guided tours

During the weekends and schoolholidays you can book a place on a guided tour.
A professional guide will tell you all about watermanagement in Zuid Holland, the Maeslant surge barrier and the role of climatechange. You will then be taken outside to see the imressive barrier upclose. This is a special experience as this restriced area is only accessable with a guide. These tours are also given in English and some times in German.

Groups

Our professional tourguides can customise the tour to your requirements.The tour can be given, subject to avaiability, in English, German, French or Chinese. There’s three parts to the tour. First you will see a 15minute film about the construction and need for the Maeslantkering. This will give you a first impression of watermanagement in the province of Zuid Holland. The tour will then move on to various exhibition parts where your guide will explain more about the subjects you have seen in the film. The third part of the tour will take place outside, up close to the barrier itself. Here you will hear about the process of closing and opening the barrier and you will walk beside the .....  m. arm.

Business visitors

Professionals with a technical background, company visits and delegations from all over the world are most welcome in the Keringhuis for a made-to-measure tour.These tours will be given by our technical manager and/or press officer. It is usual for these tours to spend extra time outside and go deeper in the technical aspects of the barrier. English is no problem, German French or Chinese subject to avaiability.

If you are looking for a unique location for your company’s meeting we warmly invite you to come and inspect our facilities. We have several fully utilised meetingrooms where we can accomodate upto 200 guests.

You can chose from our three meetingrooms:

  • De Punt,a small meetingroom for upto 18 people with an impressive view of the Maeslantkering.
  • De Deltazaal, a meeting/presentation room for 20-70 people.
  • De Duikerzaal, a meeting/presentation room for 30-120 people.

We can provide a full range of catering from coffee/tea to hot&cold buffets and drinks. We are fully licensed.

Can’t get enough of the impressive views of the Maeslantkering and Nieuwe Waterweg?Why not visit our restaurant and terrace for a lovely cup of coffee or lunch! You are guaranteed a front seat view of the Maeslantkering!

Enjoy our freshly ground coffee, cream cakes from our local master baker or a delicious freshly made sandwich by our staff.

The terrace outside is the place to be during good weather, you can enjoy the views whilst the children play at the waterplayground.

Make your visit to the restaurant memorable and combine it with a tour of the Keringhuis!

Group reservations are possible throughout the year.

              

In our shop you will find something for every occasion, from sweets to baby gifts and beautiful maritime themed items. Pick a souvenir as a memory of your museum visit or as a gift for friends and family.We sell various books relating to the Deltaworks, The Disaster of 1953 and  the fight gainst water.  Most items are related to the sea or shipping, with a maritime twist that can be quite surprising.
